These are the official WCG 2008 Singapore rules but have been tweaked/edited for this tournament.

Competition method: Double Elimination 5v5
Match Point: Best of 1 match
Match Winner: The team who destroys the opponent’s world tree first, or if the opponents surrender

Map version: DotA 6.52c
Game mode: All pick (-ap)

The match will begin with a coin toss and winner of the coin toss will get to choose either
(a)Sentinel/Scourge side of the map or (b)the first hero selection from drafting

Hero drafting (Invoker is banned in all tournament play):
1) The team that starts off the drafting will have a maximum of 5 minutes to decide on the 1st hero, after which next team also gets 5 minutes to choose their 1st hero. This process is repeated until all the hero’s are selected.
Team that fail to draft within 5 minutes will have their draft chance given to the other team. After the first hero’s have been selected it shouldn’t take more than 30 seconds to draft the following hero’s.
2) If any team is found to have any hero which is selected differently from what was decided earlier, the referee has to be informed immediately. Team which made the mistake of selecting the wrong heroes after game starts will be penalised (Warning or Game Loss). In any situation when any team did not select their heroes according to what they have decided, referee will use the heroes selection list recorded to verify if that team is guilty of making the mistake. Then referee award warning or game loss if the team is found guilty of making the wrong selection.

Team that chooses the sentinel side will host the game.
Team members are not allowed to change seats once DOTA map has started to load.
At the end of the game, replay has to be saved and named as ROUND_TEAM1VSTEAM2 by the winning team leader or at least one of the team members. Failure to do so will cause the game to be void and no winner will be declared for that game.

Once in game, the referee must pause the game. Team captains/acting captains must roll out of 100 (Command is -roll). The team with a higher roll will ban first and pick first.
In the event, the roll is

• Banning order: 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1

Team one will ban: 1 hero
Team two will ban: 1 hero
Team one will ban: 1 hero
Team two will ban: 1 hero
Team one will ban: 1 hero
Team two will ban: 1 hero
Team one will ban: 1 hero
Team two will ban: 1 hero

• Picking order: 1-2-2-2-2-1

Team one will pick: 1 hero
Team two will pick: 2 heroes
Team one will pick: 2 heroes
Team two will pick: 2 heroes
Team one will pick: 2 heroes
Team two will pick: 1 hero

Backdooring is NOT allowed. Instances of teleport abuse are not allowed. You cannot use any form of teleport (furion skill, ignis fatuus, or Boots of Travel) to enter an enemy base UNLESS your creeps are already present in the base. So, for example, teleporting with Boots of Travel onto an ignis fatuus that runs in to backdoor is illegal. Teleporting to your teamates as Furion is illegal because your creep wave is not present. Some of these measures have since been restricted in recent map versions in support of this rule. If uncertain/unsure please advise a referee.
Destroying the towers outside of the base is not considered backdooring. Also if a team has entered the base with creeps they are free to do what they want even if the creeps have died, if however they walk out of the base and enter again without the presence of creeps, it’s considered backdooring.

Sharing of items really shouldn’t be an issue any more due to the new anti-pool.
Item Limits
Each team may only have in total:
2x Necronomicon
2x Refresher Orb
1x Arcane Ring
Each team may only have in total either:
2xEul’s Scepter of Divinity OR
2xGuinsoo’s Scythe of Vyse OR
1xEul’s Scepter of Divinity & 1xGuinsoo’s Scythe of Vyse

Abuses & Exploitation:
Trees Trapping (Disqualification): Trapping enemies in trees intentionally is not allowed.
Pause Abuse (Warning or Game Loss): During hero selection. From the point after hero selection process is completed, pausing without any valid reason is not allowed.
Creep Blocking (Disqualification): Creep blocking is not allowed but creep slowing is allowed. Blocking here refers to the prolonged blocking of creeps to disrupt their usual path. (ie: Using Chen's creeps to block the entire entrance of the base for a long time.) Creep slowing means that you can stop the creeps from moving in their usual path for a few seconds. (ie: Using fissure)
Bugs Exploitation (Warning , Game Loss or Disqualification): No Exploitation of any known old or new bug discovered during play. Explanations like "exploiting/activating the bug unknowingly", "we had no idea this bug existed" or similar excuses will not be accepted. Participants/Teams are expected to know what these are. Examples of Bugs: Earthshaker using Fissure to target out of the edge of the map. Results in a fatal error in some instances. Any players found doing this will be disqualified.
No control sharing (Disqualification): Strictly no control sharing. Only when there is one more or team mates disconnects, then you can share the control of that player(s)' hero. However, you cannot take, pass or sell that hero's item(s).
No slamming of tables (Warning, Game Loss or Disqualification): As stated above there is a zero tolerance of table slamming due to the fact that it may cause a computer to hang or crash. The penalty issued will be depending on how hard you’ve slammed the table.

Penalties:
Warning: After warning is given, game goes on. If three warnings are accumulated then the team will be ejected from the tournament upon receiving the third warning.
Game Loss: Game loss given to a team mean the team loses the current game no matter what is the result of that game. A win would be awarded to opponent instead.
Disqualification: A team disqualified will be ejected from the tournament. They will not be able to continue further in the current event.

Disconnection: Any team members who intentionally drop out of the game might cause that member's team to be given a game loss for that game. Appeal can be made but decision by the referee will be final.
If the game hangs, do not change anything and leave the screen as it is. Pause the game and notify the referee immediately.
If any players are disconnected within 10 minutes after game starts then the game has to restart.
If any players are disconnected 10 min after game starts then the game will continue, due to this being a LAN tournament this rule may be changed if both agrees. The dropped player/s team must leave the items on the dropped hero and is NOT allow to sell the items of the dropped hero. At no time shall a player take an item from the dropped hero or buy an item for the dropped hero. The team may then control the dropped hero.
If all players' systems hang or the game cannot continue because the majority of the players within the same game experience a game hang, the referee can decide to restart the game or award a win to either team.
Game crashes/Fatal error: At the 25th minute mark, the game will be saved once for a back up save game. After the 25th minute mark every 15 minutes interval, the game will be saved for a back up save game. Referee’s will have the right to ask players to save game during any period of the game.
Any game crash after 90 minutes will not be continued anymore and a decision will be made by the referee of that match based on the replay of that match. Unless both teams agree to load from the last replay and the replay is within 10 minutes of the crash/fatal.
In the times of a game crash/fatal error, the referee's decision will be final. If the participant has any problems regarding the decision made by the referee, he/she can file a report to the organizers and it will be reviewed by the staff and referees.
